May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you and may God bless you throughout the year twenty-ten. Welcome to the internet home of the interdenominational personal pastoral ministries of Dave Pflueger, which are known as the Free Catholic Ministries of Christ the King of Tacoma, Washington. These ministries are centered in the Old Catholic community that is known as Christ's Catholic Church, which is a Free Catholic community that welcomes all who enter.
The ministries of Pastor Dave serve as an apostolic ministry to those in most need of pastoral care. As an apostolic ministry the primary focus of these ministries is to honor humankind and to serve as a living example of the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth - as describe in the four Gospels of his life when he walk among us and now remains with us in Spirit. As Jesus of Nazareth was grounded in Judaism as his religious foundation, the faith he practiced, the personal ministries of Pastor Dave are grounded in the Christian religion, the faith Jesus establish and was for a brief period in history a branch of Judaism.
His ministries also serve as an apostolic ministry to those with developmental and psychological disabilities. To this end, Pastor Dave believes that we are to open the doors of our lives to those whom the Spirit of God sends to us and embrace them as our brothers and sisters in Christ. He also fully supports the eumenical movement among Churches and Ministries, because no one church can do everything and coming together as a collective allows ministries to be done that might not otherwise be done.
God then said, Let Us make humankind in Our image, according to Our likeness. Genesis 1:26
Pastor Dave opens his apostolic ministries to those with developmental and psychological disabilities and sees them as children of God. He knows that not everyone has the professional training and documents that medical professionals and social workers have - but this should not prevent people from offering compassion and tolerance to those who live with these disabilities. Unlike many churches of today, Pastor Dave's embracement of those with these disabilites is unconditional and he invities them into full participation of his ministries.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female, [there is neither able or disable]; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28
Pastor Dave and his ministries are open to all who are in need of them. All one needs to do - is simply ask for them.
Pastor Dave wishes to acknowledge the Independent Catholic ministries that have come before it in the Tacoma area. Saint Aelred's Independent Catholic Church and Rt. Rev. Robert Withrow. Before Saint Aelred's relocated to Olympia, Washington it served the dowtown area at First United Methodist Church of Tacoma. Ascension Mission and Rt. Rev. Alan Kemp. Before Ascension relocated to the Key Peninsula and south Kitsap County it served the Parkland area. May God grant to these ministries that have come before us many blessings in the years to come.
A note about the clergy of the Independent Catholic movement and the Old Catholic movement. Most clergy of these movements are secular clergy, in that their financial income is drawn from secular resources and not from their Church. Also, if a clergy person does not have the resources to offer a Sunday program - they often attend a congregation that welcomes their presence and life experiences. This is especially true for clergy who have families with young children.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God [the Father], and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with all of you. 2nd Corinthians 13:14
